Have you looked at the latest fashions and seen adorable mini dresses? Have you wished that you could wear one of those cute dresses, but worry that you’re too old for the look? First things first: you are not too old to wear a mini dress if you want to. Bare your gorgeous thighs and take selfies. But if you’re not quite confident enough to do that, consider turning that mini dress into a tunic by adding shorts. You’ll still get the cute look of the dress, and the shorts will give you the confidence you need to strut your stuff! Here are some examples.
TOP ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Nicole Denim Shirt Dress, $108. Available in 3 colors, this cute dress features a tiered silhouette. Clovers Mini Dress, $40. Available in 9 colors, I’ve featured this affordable mini dress before. I love its easy shape and exposed side pocket. Voile and Lace Trapeze Slip, $88. Available in 8 colors, take a close look at this adorable dotted slip dress, and check out the lace insets.
BOTTOM ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Avery Bermuda Short, $78. Available in 3 colors, these shorts feature a classic cutoff design with raw hems. CRVY Coast to Coast Biker Shorts, $78. Available in 2 colors, these shorts are specifically designed with a high amount of stretch for a holds-you-in feel. Bianca Lace Bike Short, $38. Available in 4 colors, these shorts feature a high rise waist and bloomer-style lining. Lace shorts are my favorite because I think they look sexy and they’re comfortable.
I chose these mini dresses because they are cute and have a conservative cut. If you’re more daring, there are tons of adorable mini dresses that are strapless, have a fairly bare back, or show more cleavage. Of course, instead of shorts you can use jeans or leggings, but I like shorts best because they maintain the integrity of the mini.
Let me know how you wear your mini dresses. Or, better yet, send me a picture and I’ll feature it in a future post!
